What Are DTF Transfers?

DTF stands for Direct-to-Film. It's a printing method where your design is printed in full color (CMYK + White) onto a special film, coated with adhesive powder, and cured. The result is a ready-to-press transfer that you apply to fabric using a heat press. Learn more in our guide: What Is a DTF Gang Sheet?

Unlike screen printing, DTF has no color limits, no minimum orders, and no setup fees. Unlike sublimation, DTF works on dark fabrics and cotton. Unlike vinyl, there's no weeding, your transfer arrives ready to press straight out of the package.

DTF transfers work on t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tote bags, hats, jackets, pillowcases, and more. They adhere to cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, nylon, and most other fabrics in both light and dark colors.   • DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are full-color heat transfers printed on special film with adhesive backing. You press them onto fabric with a heat press — no weeding, no masking, no color limits. They work on cotton, polyester, blends, and both light and dark garments.

  • T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tote bags, pillowcases, hats, jackets, and more. DTF transfers adhere to cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, and most fabrics For hard surfaces like cups and tumblers, use our UV DTF transfers instead.

  • Transfers by size start at $2.00. Gang sheets start at $0.025 per square inch, with lower per-inch pricing on longer sheets. No setup fees, no color charges, no minimums.

  • Set your heat press to 300°F (149°C). Pre-press your garment for 5 seconds, place the transfer, press for 10–15 seconds with medium pressure. Allow to cool, cold peel, then finish-press for 10 seconds. See our full application guide for detailed instructions.

  • Standard turnaround is 1–3 business days. We print Monday–Friday with a daily cutoff at 12:00 PM Arizona time. Rush service is available at checkout.
